The Second Interpretation...       next

Here’s a few points that can be deduced from the second example.

Potential Intermediate Wells

  • The shallow well at L7 stops the intermediate channel in row 7 from going further east. The shallow well at J10 suggests that the intermediate channel does not follow the J column. Rather the channel continues east to K7, then turns south.
  • From the K column, the channel turns west to hook up with the wells drilled at G13 and H13.
  • The channel goes one more square west, then heads south to hook up with the intermediate wells in the F column.
  • From the F column, channel heads west again to run through the shallow field in the southwest corner.

Potential Shallow Wells

  • The boundaries of the north central field are defined by the dry wells in columns H & P, and the rows 2 & 11.
  • There have been no dry shallow wells in the southwest shallow field, which suggests that, while the boundaries are not yet defined, some bad luck is about to happen for financiers looking for shallow oil in this area. There's just "too much success" here.

Potential Deep Wells

  • The dry deep well C5 defines the extent of the deep pool in the northwest corner. This pool is fully drilled out.
  • The dry deep wells at E8 and G8 eliminate the possibility of a deep pool being on that area of the map.
  • The rest of the intermediate channel probably needs more definition before more deep wells are drilled.

Desolate Areas

Quite a few intermediate wells were drilled in the northeast corner with no success at the shallow or intermediate depth. This suggests an area to stay away from for the rest of the seminar.
